October Snowstorm in NJ Brings Snow, Traffic Snarls, Downed Trees & Power Outages!

Inch counts ratcheted up and storm warnings grew more dire this afternoon as an historic nor’easter blanketed northern New Jersey causing traffic delays, widespread power outages and felled trees throughout the region.

Gov. Chris Christie, who was without power himself this afternoon, declared a state of emergency.

“The storm is moving up the East Coast and will continue moving northeast through this evening. We have a dryer period with the storm moving through this afternoon,” said Mitchell Gaines, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, Mount Holly Office. At around 5 o’clock, “The back end will start coming in with another period of intense snowfall.”
